Straw processing
The main components of biomass potential in Ukraine are primary waste - straw of cereals and rape, stalks of corn, sunflowers and more.
In its composition straw differs from wood waste and sawdust with a high content of volatile substances, low density and longer burning time. Straw is undoubtedly a high-calorie fuel: a kilogram of straw gives an average of about 3 kW/hour of energy. This means that burning 3 kg of straw produces the same amount of energy as burning a liter of diesel fuel or a cubic meter of natural gas.
More rational today is to receive straw fuel through briquetting. The benefits of fuel briquettes are known and obvious. Suffice it to say that the density of briquettes, including straw, reaches 1.4 kg/dm3. The processing of straw into briquettes and pellets solves the problems of storage and transportation of raw materials, making straw universal fuel both from the point of view of combustion methods and from the point of view of consumers.
